What is PASSPORT?

PASSPORT is a web-based integrated solution where:

  • Important data is shared across all functions and is housed in one database
  • Admissions and records, the schedule and course catalog, financial aid, and student finance are managed as one system
  • Human Resources, Accounts Payable, and Student Administration share data across functions
  • Students no longer have multiple records throughout the district
  • Students, faculty, and staff access the system through a standard internet browser on almost any computer
  • The system is compliant with federal regulations like the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

PASSPORT’S MISSION:

Make it easier for students to connect with Peralta to complete their education. We do this by improving our ability to access accurate, reliable data through efficient, uniform web-based processes.

PASSPORT’S BENEFITS:

STUDENTS:

  • Receive grades sooner
  • Reduced delays for job offers and/or university acceptances
  • Real time enrollment feedback
  • Communicate real-time with faculty and staff

FACULTY:

  • Saves time submitting grades:
    • Instructors enter and submit grades online
    • No last minute driving to the campus or district office to submit rosters
    • Eliminates other manually intensive processes that further delay grade reporting
    • Rosters can be completed at home or anywhere there is computer access
  • More time is allotted to submit grades:
    • Example:   Fall grades can be submitted as late as January 2nd.
  • Reduces errors with grades and rosters:
    • No more misinterpreted grade reports by scanners
    • Reduces time and coordination necessary to correct errors
    • Provides a more accurate view of who has added or dropped a class
  • Environment friendly:
    • Reduces paper use and helps make the Peralta District green

ADMINISTRATIVE BENEFITS:

  • An integrated solution:
    • Integrates Human Resources, Accounts Payables and Student Administration
    • Key business data is shared across all functions
    • Data is consistent because it is only entered once
    • Reduces data redundancy and discrepancies in current environment
    • Single ID to capture student information - SSN is optional
  • Software is compliant with federal regulations like FERPA
  • State of the art, web based application
    • Can access from most internet accessible computers
  • Industry best practices for higher education
    • Example:  compliance with financial aid regulations
  • Enables students and faculty to retrieve some information on their own
  • Eliminates risk and cost of maintaining current legacy applications
  • COBOL programmers becoming scarce

With our Passport Student Administration System, taking classes couldn't be easier!
